PENNINGTON KATANA Blades
Katana Level 2 Blade – Precision for Developing Skaters
Designed specifically for youth skaters in the 35–55 kg range, the Katana Level 2 blade strikes a balance between control, glide, and durability—making it ideal for athletes progressing into more advanced technique and speed.
The core structure features a 7000 Series high-grade aviation aluminum tube, delivering exceptional strength while keeping weight low. This aerospace-grade material, combined with a tube hardness of 16.5 and yield strength of 115–125, ensures the blade maintains structural integrity under load without sacrificing responsiveness.
At the edge, the Katana uses a bi-metal / powder metallurgy (PM) steel runner with a hardness rating of 61–62 HRC. This provides superior edge retention and ice grip, allowing for clean, confident pushes and stable cornering—especially important for younger skaters refining their stride mechanics.
The 1.1 mm blade thickness enhances bite and precision without adding unnecessary drag, while the geometry is tuned for performance:
- A 9-meter rocker radius promotes smooth transitions and consistent glide.
- A 23-meter lateral bend radius improves edge control and stability through turns.
Visually, the blade stands out with its anodized finish and precision-machined construction, reflecting both durability and high-performance engineering.
Overall, the Katana Level 2 blade is engineered to give developing skaters a competitive edge—offering lightweight strength, sharp responsiveness, and reliable grip as they build confidence on the ice.
